Welcome to my first blog!
I will be sharing the tools you need and how to prepare your ink before you start writing!
Tools:
. Ink: I always use Indian Black Ink but other colours are also available depending on your preferences.
· Silk Threads called (Likka): These are raw silk fibres to absorb ink placed in inkwell
·Inkwell
· Paper: Glossy White Paper /Glossy Paper with decorated borders
Papyrus (First Paper used in Egypt)
Ahar/Muqahhar Paper
I usually write on a glossy white paper because it's just easy to find in stores. However, I purchased the papyrus and Ahar paper from Egypt and Saudi Arabia but I am pretty sure it's available online.

Pens:

Bamboo:One of the oldest type of pen used for calligraphy. As the edge of the bamboo pen allows the performance of calligraphy in full movement.

Java: This pen is known for its hardness material and ability to create sharp edges. This pen is good for detailed smaller scripts.

Kamish: This pen has been used over 500 years ago by Arab, Turkish and Iranian Calligraphers. The Kamish is also known as a Reed pen.

Handam: The Handam pen consists of the same strength that the Java pen has. The pen is good to use for all kinds of scripts.
. Prepare your inkwell:
1- Prepare your silk thread (Likka), empty inkwell, and black ink.
2- Wet your silk thread likka with few drops of water, place it inside your empty inkwell and add few drops of ink.
3- The amount of ink would be approximately equal to the amount of water provided in the inkwell and mix it up.
4- Test your ink by writing on the paper if more ink is needed, less water etc.. it shouldn’t spread out while writing.
Accessories:
I went for a tour at Agha Khan Museum and got myself a cute pencil case from the gift shop!
Great start! Good Luck ♥️
